My Story
Olivia is an epidemiologist and infectious diseases modeller. Just prior to epi[x], Olivia worked in the SARS-CoV-2 phylogenetics response team at Imperial College London in adjunct with the COVID-19 Genomics UK Consortium (COGUK) to estimate the size of the COVID-19 pandemic. Olivia developed a first of its kind variant scanning system to identify and monitor emerging SARS-CoV-2 Variants of Concern (VoC) for Public Health England (PHE) as part of the UK pandemic response.
Before this, Olivia worked with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to develop real-time estimates of HIV incidence in Malawi. Olivia holds an MRes in Biomedical Sciences from Imperial College London, and an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
